Every once in a while we like to leave a blog post with a simple DIY project for you to do at home. One of our team members doesn’t have a fireplace in their home like many others in the area. But to avoid disappointing their kids, they built this blanket ladder to hang their stockings on! This is how they did it:

Material:

2 – 2×2’s by 8 ft

1 – 2×2 by 2 ft

3-inch wood screws (you’ll need 8)

Drill

Sandpaper

Leftover Paint (We used ceiling paint)

Instructions:

  1. When we purchased the wood, we had them cut it into 4 – 1 ft pieces and 2 – 6 ft pieces. If you don’t have the store do this, you will need to complete these cuts.
  2.  Sand all the pieces down with medium grit sandpaper so they are smooth and have no rough edges.
  3. Screw everything together. We did one step every 12 inches so they were nice and even! Be sure to keep everything straight so that you don’t have a crooked uneven ladder.
  4. Bring out the paint! We used leftover ceiling paint. We did two coats and then sanded the edges to make it more rustic.
  5. Put in nails for the stockings. We did this in the cracks in case we decided to take them out and use the ladder all year round.
  6. String up Christmas lights.
  7. Enjoy!
